Cinemagraph: The Falmouth Experiment.
Been a while since i actually posted a Cinemagraph. Taken at Falmouth dock yard, cornwall. This one posed its own difficulties; seagulls flying in shot, fast moving clouds and changing colour depth of the sky. Managed to scrape 4 seconds of footage together that seemed pretty good and to push the bar even further (remember we are dealing with 256 colours) I treated the images pretty heavily and added a nice vignette and its always nice to do a BW version too.. This was the result.

Cinemagraph Fail!
Its a real shame to say this (a tear is running down my cheek) but the footage from our easter camping trip got corrupt!! I no longer have the footage i planned to make the Cinemagraphs out of, this is terrible news espically after all the hard work, Steve and Jason put in helping me set up the scene.
To explain, we rigged a fishing rod at the top eye with some very fine fishing line, ran it directly down to a pivot joint where the line then ran out of shot into Steves hand. Steve pulled the line giving the impression there was a fish being caught, Jay film, whilst i acted like a very concerned fisherman!
All in all it would have made a cracking Cinemagraph with only the rod moving! Hey ho, here’s to next time and another more complicated set up! :)

Checking out the selection at Portreath.

We named him Sammy and fed him Sandeels - kinda put paid to our fishing. The WildLife around the southwest still surprises me to this day.

Not Devon rather Cornwall, Pentillie Castle situated on the banks of the river Tamar. Stunning gardens and a pretty awesome day out. Video shot by Jason and myself.

Around a Devon campfire.

Our work here felt complete and worthwhile. Roll on the summer and this spot getting extensively used.

This is Devon.
Instilled with a sense of achievement. Stephen and I return battered, bruised, bleeding and with as many thrones embedded in our skin as i’m afraid to count. But we’ve done a good thing and hope many people take advantage of the hard work we put in.
Over at Noss Mayo we spent the weekend wild camping, fishing, taking photos and returning a once naturally beautiful camping spot back to its natural glory!
We hope many others come and enjoy this spot as much as we have over the years. Just remember to take your rubbish home with you!!
Many many photos, HDR’s and one or two Cinemagraphs to come; I just need to get round to processing it all! :)

Sea Bites: The line between bravery and fear for a bite out of the sea. This short film by David Beriain a freelance journalist absolutely fascinated me. It tells the story of Serxo who seeks out the salty bounty of Barnacles off the coast of spain. An expensive delicacy as the task of actually collecting these little morsels is fraught with danger, growing only on the water line where waves crash against the rocks.
What really struck me the most was how simular the coast line looked in comparison to South Devon and how it reminded me of days snorkelling around the coast; foraging for oysters, clams and scallops. Even the odd Plaice and Ray, thanks to the trusty spear gun! Next time we go, i’ll keep my eyes peeled for Barnacles!!
Some truly beautiful footage, I hope you enjoy their battle.. with the Sea.
